Test Data Management
SPONSOR TRACK TALK
The MERCADONA case: Turning Test Data into a Strategic Asset
In this talk, Mercadona and icaria Technology will share how test data management evolved from an operational QA need into a strategic capability for scaling testing and automation in complex environments. The starting point was not only finding valid test data, but also identifying where sensitive data resided, understanding how it should be handled, and building the right governance foundation. In Mercadona’s case, sensitive data mapping and field-level masking rules made it possible to protect production-like data while enabling its safe use in non-production environments.
The talk will show how icaria TDM helped move from reactive, manual processes to a more managed and scalable model. Key capabilities included sensitive data mapping, masking, protection of non-production copies, business-criteria-based data discovery, and controlled data movement across environments. We will also explore how intelligent subsetting, supported by referential integrity and business rules, helped create lighter, consistent, and usable datasets. As a result, test preparation became faster, manual effort was reduced, and QA gained a stronger foundation for sustainable scale.
